Floret Spring Seeds Are Now at Verdant

We're very excited to offer a hand-selected variety of seeds from Floret Flowers this spring! These are extra special for a variety of reasons. Here’s why:

Firstly, Floret is an authority in the flower industry

Floret Farm is a family-run flower farm in Washington's Skagit Valley that specializes in growing unique, uncommon, and heirloom flowers. They’ve dedicated the greater part of the last two decades to research, growing, and education – and have established themselves as a top resource and seed-provider for flower lovers and growers alike.

You may be familiar with their name – as Verdant carries two of their books: A Year in Flowers: Designing Gorgeous Arrangements for Every Season and Discovering Dahlias: A Guide to Growing and Arranging Magnificent Blooms

Secondly, their seed offerings are unique and in high demand

Floret offers one annual seed sale. And the majority of their seeds always sell out within 24 hours.

At Verdant, we strategically planned for and prioritized securing these specialty seeds for you! We chose varieties we know are difficult to find and ones we think you would most want and appreciate.

You may be wondering, “Why are their seeds in such high demand?” To us at Verdant, it’s not just that Floret sources flowers we can’t find elsewhere; it’s about their values, too. Here’s a list of them:

  • Floret is passionate about bringing more beauty into the world.
  • They value small businesses.
  • They care about the environment and integrating organic and sustainable growing practices into their decisions.
  • They grow and gather the best quality seeds.
  • They believe in sharing – flowers and education!
  • They’re dedicated to the seasonal flower movement – supporting flower farmers, gardeners, and floral designers who use locally grown blooms.

What’s more, these seeds are great for beginners and for experts

All of these varieties – excluding the Stock and the Sweet Peas – can be directly sown into the ground once the last hard frost has passed. This planting time typically occurs around late April for Kansas City. ‘Directly sown’ means planted into the soil of your garden versus being “started” indoors (usually in trays) – where the seedlings will germinate and eventually need to be transplanted. Starting seeds indoors gives your flowers a head-start and a longer growing season. If you start your seeds indoors, you’ll want to do this 6-8 weeks before the last hard frost in late April.
